Paul Grohs earned a 2nd Place Finish at the World Duckpin Classic Pro Tour at Hagerstown
Hagerstown, Maryland - Newly inducted DPBA Hall of Famer Paul Grohs had quite an exciting weekend in Maryland this past weekend. He was inducted into the DPBA Hall of Fame for his Superior Performance at the Annual Banquet on Saturday night, and followed that up the next day by bowling his way to a 2nd place finish behind Canadian Sylvain Bercier.
Paul got things going on early Saturday morning bowling his eight qualifying games, qualifying 29th with 1168. He entered Sunday morning, as a new HOF member looking to show why he got there. He went 4-1 in his division bowling 755 against his opponents. He then got to the bracket seeding where he faced off against fellow CT bowler Brian Ewing whom he defeated 163-143. Next he escaped a narrow victory against Todd Pyles 141-135, and then lit up the scoreboard against Bernie Hipkins defeating the big righty 191-137.
The final match brought Paulie up against Canada's Sylvain Bercier who had been bowling tremendous all weekend, but just getting past his last round defeating Mark Klingelhofer 119-115. Before he knew it Paulie had a huge defecit to overcome as Sylvain made a spare or strike in almost every box. Unfortunately, Paul was not able to overcome Berciers amazing bowling for the $10k prize. Although he didn't earn a star or the top prize, at the end of the day he was though able to come away with a very nice pay day, and a tremendous effort finishing 2nd out of 150 other competitors. He definitely had a superb weekend both on and off the lanes.
